I do love your paintings as they never look contrived or fiddled with and have a freeness of expression that is so charming. Another little gem.

Your tonal values are always so well observed, a delightful scene - too bad about the flies :(

A friend of mine came back with an oil painting smothered in midges; "local colour", she muttered; slightly savagely, I thought. Another beauty from you, wouldn't have known the paper wasn't so good; quite dark, but only because of the high horizon - certainly not dull, it teems with detail and movement.
