YELLOW POPPY - after Fitch

I like the flowers , but not sure what they are, the colour is so fresh, it reminds me of the botanicals well done Charles

sorry Charles I should have said they remind me of the old botanical paintings

A really lovely piece of work Chas, the colours are so delicate and pretty.

Lovely ;)

Hello Tao, Margaret and Donna - thank you for your comments most welcome. The flowers are Meconopsis nipalensis, or a poppy variety for want of a better name. The colours are purely from the Pablo range - Canary Yellow, Lemon Yellow and Yellow, the shading is Umber. The white is produced from Cream which looks white against the yellow (its what the eye perceives to be white). The greens are a blend of Olive, Khaki Green and Moss Green. , oh and a bit of Orange. There my colour palate is laid bare. This drawing was taken from an image by Fitch who was a botanical artist of great renown in the 1800's, but I lowered the intensity of the yellows so as not to be in the face so much.

I knew the name but couldn't remember from where. I did look up on the net but to no avail. that is of course why your flowers reminded of the old paintings thanks for the information Charles
