I think it works well - one of your best and that's really saying something

Yes, I agree with Michael, this has come out very well, the path leads nicely to the sunlit trees. I like the reflections also.

I'm no expert as you know but it looks natural and I love the strong reflections, a lovely painting

hi i think it really works you captured the light so well and reflections beatifuul work form paula

Looks okay to me. Lovely colours and plenty of depth.

Yes, they do tell you that (light comes from one direction) because a) it's easier to paint that way, and b) it's usually true. But, as you observe - it isn't always true ..... the sun will only be in one place, there's only one of it, and the light emanates from it.... but objects will reflect the light according to their, and the sun's, placement: so at mid-day, the sun can be directly overhead - casting shadows in two directions very often..... You can only gauge this by actually observing it, but in general, the extreme effects of light coming from right or left occur at early morning or late evening. It suits many artists to paint at these extremes, but I've often found it more rewarding to paint the light from less predictable angles. (Of course, that could just be an excuse for getting up late.......) Even so - there's only one light source, and you have to follow its dictates - it's just not always so simple as you might think, and thus gives much more opportunity for manipulation than most of us tend to realize.

Looks ok to me too yet another lovely painting.

I really like this painting Charles

I think this is stunning, Charles. Beautiful view and again perfectly painted!

Looks great to me.As Robert pointed out if the sun is up higher then reflections can be spread around, which is the impression one gets from this work.
