Charles, maybe the next one will be different - to my eyes there's not much wrong with this!

This is a fine painting Charles, it has good tones, a good sense of distance and good drawing. It is good that you are never satisfied though - that's the best way to improve.

I agree, this is well painted. We have a similar walk near to us and I think you have nailed it Charles. Well done.

This is beautiful Charles, you are good with any medium

I think this is very good but my wife would say the greens are a bit too bright, she always tells me that when I do a proper landscape. Se is usually right

I love how you can turn your hand to any medium Charles......and you're brilliant with all of them!

If you get any better, I will really turn irreversibly green, Charles! I really like this piece - it has a lot of fluidity, freedom and movement, which I suspect is due to the slow drying property of oils. The undulating path is very effectively done. It's great!

Beautiful you have created a great depth in this painting Charles.

You do seem to be able to turn your hand to just about anything ... I noticed the comment about too bright greens; I could go on for quite a long time about that.... but it would boil down to this - your greens are sharper than some, because you don't mix a lot of white with them; but that's part of your style, it seems to me - there's another painter on the gallery whose name momentarily escapes me who specializes in billowy, fresh skies, and very understated, pastel-shaded landscapes beneath them. You could say that those landscapes are too pale - but again: it's the painter's style. And I'd add that we all see colour somewhat differently anyway - perhaps especially green, which is why so many artists have such trouble with that colour. I think it probably IS true that at this stage, your oils aren't quite up there with your acrylics - and John above does have a point: but don't go rushing in with the Titanium White in order to correct a perceived problem - not that I suppose you would. Just keep painting in all media, and as always in your case, any "problems" will resolve themselves. Oil is much more difficult to master than people seem to think: I get quite annoyed by those who say it's "easier than watercolour" - because it ain't! Anyway, after all that - I do like your painting, and its depth, and, yes, its colour.

Charles , I have been looking at your gallery and you amaze me , the skill you bring to any medium you try is truly wonderful and I am envious. I loved your charcoal pictures and this oil painting is superb, My daughter was up in your neck of the woods last week and was telling me how lovely it was although it didn't stop raining all week, I guess thats what makes it a green and pleasant land,
