Not easy to capture woodland light, but you're going the right way about it - pale, or clear and lucid washes in the background, darker tones leading into it: perhaps a bit darker still? You're making me want to have a go now!

A dark shadow over that path might help - light is generally achieved in all painting by intensifying the darks: there are obvious exceptions to that, but I think it'd be worth a try in this painting.

Thank you Robert, I really do apprecoate such great feedback and I will certainly give your suggestions a go. I have always been a little affraid of having too darks - it something I must get over! Again many thanks for such great feedback,

Ceri, I’m like that with darks too. The light and the detail here are really good.

Fabulous painting Ceri.

A stunner Ceri

Beautiful light and lovely details, really captures the intensity of colour in the scene.

Ceri: This image struck my eye from the 'montage'. There's a lovely glow in the lighter focal areas. Was the terrain actually rising? I think a wider path, narrowing to a lower horizon would flatten it out; plus leading the viewer in somewhat easier. Lovely colours suggesting Autumn. I agree with Robert; I want to have a go myself!

Thank you all for such good comments. Again John your critic comments are especially welcome - I eager to learn from others.

Beautifully painted Ceri

Really lovely work with a great glow, Ceri

Watercolour and digital filter - still focusing on trying to capture that woodland light.
