A lot of effort put into this painting, and an interesting subject to look at. Some of the gnarled roots take on a life of their own and look quite human in a strange way. An curious piece of work.

Thanks for your comment. Yes there are some interesting shapes almost human. I had thought about doing another painting but drawing out those human and other shapes, could be interesting.

I love this one Catherine, the texture, impasto and pallet knife feel is very tactile feel. Lovely work!

This is taken from a photo I took of an old tree in Berkshire. I've used modeling paste to produce the texture of the roots and when dried painted with a mixture of heavy body acrylic and interactive acrylic paint. For the trunk of the tree I mixed the paint in with the modeling paste. I like the effect the modeling paste gives, replicating the knarled structure of the tree roots and the bark.
