I knew as soon as I took this photo that I had to paint it. His eye caught the light so perfectly. I improvised the background after a comment I saw on someone else's black background, and that inspired the title. Acrylic gouache on canvas panel, 50x40cm.

Catherine Flanders

I'm an acrylic painter finally getting started again after a long break while my children were small. Birds and animals are my favourite (currently only, subjects), and despite planning to start small my paintings are rapidly increasing in size as I regain confidence!
