Cumbrian Beck in Autumn.

Nice painting, Carol. Me too, I like water-soluble oils, but I am still a novice with this medium. Lovely soft colours, Carol.

Carol, welcolme back! Oh dear, it's sounds as though you had a tough time of it, hope all is settled now. To say you have had such a long break from painting this is a really accomplished painting Carol. You have captured the Cumbrian atmosphere so well in this landscape of the fells and tumbling beck. Love the contours and your chosen palette suits the subject well. I like it very much!

You may have someone asking what a beck is Carole, never mind you have captured the weather effect, landscape and colours of the area very well.

I was intrigued with this painting, Carol, to know what medium you've used. I'm an oil painter but have never used soluble paints. It's turned out well - and very typical of the area on a less than perfect day. Effective tones, colours and brushwork make it come together well. I, too have not been painting in the miserable weather recently, but just a bit of sunshine has set me going again...

(Builders have yet to contact me to say when the roof will be replaced so it's just a waiting game now) Thank you Derek -I'm afraid I tend to assume that everyone knows what a beck is -do you think people will work it out? Pat -the medium I have used perhaps should be described as water-mixable oils -no smell, can be diluted with water and cleaning up is also just soap and water, ideal if your painting area is the kitchen or dining room! I believe they are becoming quite popular these days.
