My first thoughts were the same as Linda, amazing depth for watercolour. Is this digital Carole? It's a fine effect anyway.

No Jim. I wouldn’t know where to start with digital art. I achieved the darkness by applying many coats of indigo, Payne’s grey and Veridian green.. Thanks for your kind comment Jim and Linda.

Amazing work for a watercolour Carole, very difficult to keep it as clean and fresh as this with that many layers.

Goodness, it fair glows in the dark! Stunning effect..well done. Indigo is one of my favourite colours...beautiful blue to almost black, it's all there in one pan. This is stunning work.

Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments. They really, matter, especially when feeling hesitant about a painting you feel unsure of. I didn’t think I would have any positive feedback from this painting because I thought I might have over egged the pudding in terms of darkness, so many thanks for all your support.

This is so stunning! I love the rich deep colors, and there are so many different colors in your depths, this is impressive Carole. A real winner here! Reminds me of the big storms I used to see in Maine as a kid, and of Winslow Homer.....you have channeled a master here, with the one big dramatic wave. (and the sinking ship). One of my favorite paintings of yours! :-)
