I'm not so keen on the dark band of tone in the foreground. It makes it a bit forbidding.

Dont agree with Chris. Works fine for me. A pleasing composition from very few elements. Elegant simplicity - not unlike Matthew Ormston and Alan Owen

A scene I spotted whilst driving around one of my favourite areas near the Chiltern Hills. It is a simple scene painted on the spot during a rather hot sunny afternoon. I took advantage of a large oak tree that provided an admirable shady place to enjoy the occasion. Painted on Bockingford paper.
