Goldfinch

A stunner Bryan

Thank you Heather, appreciated.

A very nice male Goldfinch and your head colours are spot on. As a wildlife painter and predominantly bird painter in watercolour, I can appreciate the work that has gone into this. I have never really worked in Acrylics though, a good quick drying and laying medium. Paul :-)

Thank you Paul coming from you that's a great complement. I have only recently started using acrylics, I have always used oils, but had problems with solvents etc causing headaches even when using odourless thinners. It has been a steep learning curve because of the drying times and the fact that they seem to be mostly transparent or semi transparent. I realised I had to stop trying to use them as oils and embrace the quick drying properties and use lots of layering and glazing instead. I have used them in a watercolour fashion for some landscapes, which I paint in a much looser fashion. The bonus I think is once a layer is dry it doesn't lift when the next layer is applied. I am still on the learning curve though. Thank you for you very nice comments.
