I don't think it would be as striking with a sunny sky. It's the lovely coloured sky that makes the painting successful. It's lovely!

Thanks to all of you for your appreciative and encouraging comments. I'm always interested to get other peoples' views on my efforts which are useful in future work. We all have our own thoughts and it is very useful to share these.I am trying the same subject with a sunny sky, Louise, but am finding it rather a disappointment, as you say. If the sunny sky hasn't worked you can always overpaint it and make it even more dramatic ! Don't blame me though if it goes wrong !! Looking forward to seeing it here. Louise.
