Balnakiel Beach
Came across this beach in September on a first-ever visit to Scotland's north coast, near Durness. It must be one of the most stunning beaches anywhere, so I really enjoyed painting this and reliving the time spent in this magical place. Perhaps we were fortunate in being blessed with fine weather. For the artist the area has so much to offer, with more magnificent beaches, cliffs and inland scenery in the Durness area (where I learnt that John Lennon often spent his childhood summer holidays), so I'm looking forward to going back.
