Thank you Dennis you are correct I do love my painting even the ups and downs we all have to go through.

You do a terrific painting, Barry. This one is a lovely composition with a soft touch -very good.

There's no such thing as a perfect painting that will suit everybody Barry. Yours is a terrific representation of what your eyes see, and that's what it's all about. Good work.

Thank you Willie and Jim, I totally agree Jim the perfect painting is only in your minds eye, the problems occurs when you don’t produce as true a representation as you envisage, but that is the challenge and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

This is a beautiful addition to your great gallery, Barry. Super painting.

Thank you Mia and Gudrun it’s really gratifying when other show appreciation of your work.

I like this Barry! A really lovely composition.

Very vibrant Barry, good small amount of detail which fire the imagination.

Thank you Margaret and John for your comments I must admit I wasn’t sure about this is one but it is growing on me.

I never set out to paint an accurate representation of any scene, I am trying to capture the atmosphere although it doesn't always happen. Anyway, good atmosphere here Barry and I love the figures.

Thank you Alan I agree I often change elements or context but always try and remember what attracted me to the scene in the first place. Atmosphere in preference to accuracy every time I also like narrative it’s great if you can tell a story.

It's turned out extremely well, Barry. Obviously worth having another go. Lovely work and sense of activity at the scene well portrayed

Thank you Ann and Maureen it’s lovely to get your generous comments.

Thank you Shirley.

A quarter imperial watercolour slightly moving away from my back to basics. Did this a few weeks ago and was very disappointed with the result. I think I have made a better fist of it this time, I won’t post the other version it is awful.

About the Artist
Barry Hulme

I started painting in 2004, I am influenced by Wesson, Seago and many of the great masters, more recently I enjoy the work of Steve Hall, John Hoar and Alvaro Castignet to name but a few. I paint in a loose style and try to simplify as I can. The medium I enjoy most is watercolour but dabble with…
