Thank you Brian, you might need to play around with the sharpening until it makes the marks you want. I tend to have a flat area on one side and sharpen the corner to a point this gives you several different planes to work with. I use a bit of bamboo cane as a holder.

I have been looking through the many photos I take during painting trips and came across this scene taken on a sunny morning last year. I have started with an ink drawing using a sharpened matchstick as my pen I like the random marks that this method produces. When happy with the drawing I added watercolour washes.
