That is so good Avril. You will do well.

Good luck with the competition - this would be a winner!

I moved over to Fabriano Artistico a couple of years ago and although it can be tricky to work with, it is also very rewarding. I am sure you will get used to it very quickly with your skill level. This is a superb painting - so vibrant and yet so simple. A beautiful piece indeed.

Beautifully translucent with all the sunlit charm of your paintings. And a wonderful composition to boot! In my book this would be my winner!

Thank you Derek, Debs, Thea and Seok for your positive feedback which I really appreciate.

Beautiful, the paper lends itself well to the textured door Avril.

Wonderful watercolour of an old door Avril! That lovely blue you are using is so eyecatching and makes the whole painting inviting and the viewer happy. I read your article in the e- newsletter and it was very interesting to learn how you approach and paint these marvellous old objects. Well done!

I love old distressed doors and my goodness you depict them so well Avril

Stunning work. Go for that award! I haven't had a chance yet to read your e-newletter article, but I shall.

Wonderful Avril, I too read the e- newsletter article, an interesting insight into how you achieve these unusual paintings.

Definitely enter this . It is unusual and beautiful ! I enjoyed reading your piece in the e newsletter which led me to looking at your gorgeous work on your web site. Congratulations Avril!

Many thanks ladies - Carole, Lynn, Lesley, Satu, Gudrun, Christine and Sarah for commenting and reading the article in the e-letter! This is only a small painting but for the competition I'd have to use a full sheet of hand made 70 x 56 !!!!! OMG! Anyway not until next year...........

Well done Avril Saw this as pick of the month Its lovely Jx

Fantastic work as always. Well done Avril

Thank you Jean and Petra and best wishes for a happy, creative 2015.

My first try on handmade Fabriano paper that I bought at the Museo della Carta in Fabriano. Quite a change from "industrial" paper. A rougher surface which is very delicate. Lifting colour also lifts the paper! Any way it's a paper I must learn to use if I want to participate in their bienniale Award!
