Hi Avril...and Oh Wow! I just love this. Your work is so individual; you have such a good painter's eye for subjects. Wonderful palette, strong statement.

It is lovely to see your work on the gallery again, Avril. This is an amazing piece of work - wonderful colours and textures and a very quirky subject too! I love the energy of it as well. Super.

Love the weathered textures.

Thank you Ruth,Thea and Peter for your feedback - glad you like it.

Oh, its lovely, Avril, love that massive old wooden lintel

Super painting Avril, great colours and textures.

Homed in on this straight away...Avril your signature all over it. a delight.

Dont know how you spot them, but they are always a pleasure to look at.

Love this sunny painting, not kid's comic at all Avril! Love the rusty nails in the wooden lintel. Great painting.

Jenny, Pat,Sylvia, Fiona and Carole you've made my day ! Such lovely comments for a Monday morning, thank you all. Pat I spot these subjects because I've always got my little camera with me and have eyes darting up, down and around wherever I go (except in some modern shopping mall.) ! I've lately found some super drain pipes !!!!

I agree with all the above comments ! And it's good to see more of your paintings again on the site

Love the colours, they just draw you into the painting, beautifully painted.

Hello Avril! Wellcome back! You are up early on a monday morning! As you already know, I think this is a lovely watercolour with good colours and great drawing. It's sunny, happy and mysterious at the same time. More please!

Fabulous Avril, wonderful colours and texture as always. Looking forward to seeing the drain pipes !

Welcome back with such a beautiful painting, Avril. I just love it, but then, I like all your works very, very much, you know that!

A very appealing subject Avril - I live the colours and textures.

I have missed your work on here recently Avril, maybe i am looking on the wrong days. This is again another one of your beauties. I love the bright yellow , and the contrasting blues. Definately not like a kids painting at all !!

Excellent work Avril...With 2 locks on the doors there must be treasure inside..So much of your work makes me want to find out what's behind the door or through the window..

Well I can only say a big thank you to everyone for taking a moment to comment. I wasn't sure about this one and changed things drastically; luckily it was a part still in the drawing stage. For the first time I finished the two doors before painting elsewhere. I'm finding it more and more difficult to find a subject so that's why I don't post so often.I love browsing and admiring the works of the Real Art group so naturally I'm disatisfied with my own !!

This is absolutely stunning, Avril! Love the contrast of warm and cool colors, and the rather quirky feel of the painting. It's got such ooomph!

Good to have you posting again Avril, I've missed your quirky eye for turning the mundane into a great subject.

I look forward to your drainpipes Avril! It's surprising how beautiful they used to create objects in the past. Think about the old lavatory basins so beautifully painted in blue and white flowers, so much prettier than todays.

Oh dear, should never have mentioned drain pipes! I'll have to get to work....

Stunning watercolour Avril, love it!

As has been said, your colour work is exemplary, it just gives life to quite ordinary scenes and makes them leap out from the page, the way you render the mortar, wood and metal of these things is just great

These small doors are at street level and lead down to the cellar of a three hundred year old building. (My painting's a bit like something out of a kid's comic...not meant to!)
