You could do a light smudging of graphite Avril, but I like it as it is fading into the bright light. Beautiful drawing.

You could do as it would make the light side 'pop' out. At least with pencil if you do it and it looks wrong you can rub it out - not so with watercolour alas! This is a wonderful drawing with perfect form and substance. Almost makes me want to pick up a pencil (not quite though - drawing is not my favourite thing I'm afraid).

Thanks Carole and Thea, I'll give it a try and as you say Thea I can always rub it out !!

It's fabulous as is, Avril. I would actually have left the right side as is, because the surrounding detail hints at the shape of the poppy seed, which I think is wonderfully artistic.

I missed this, Avril, being away for a few days (babysitting). I wouldn't do anything more to it. In my opinion, it is perfect like it is!

The poppies have finished flowering and produced lovely shaped seedheads. 17 x 23 cm Derwent graphic pencils on heavy weight cartridge paper. (Advice please .... should I do a darker background on the righthand side ?)
