Er, eh? A stag near "her home"? The painting is good, though I struggle to recognize the species, but the artist deserved rather more accuracy from whoever has presented her painting.

I think it meant the stag was near the artists home!

Thanks to Anne from Association of Animal Artists for putting my work up on the site. Yes it is the White Fallow Buck from Ruardean Woods in the Forest of Dean. The woods are right behind my studio and I had many hours of seeing him before he was tragically killed about four years ago. He made the national press because someone tried to sell his head to the Forestry Commission which was a disgusting and tragic end for such a noble deer. However we have spotted some young white fallows nearby so hopefully he has passed his genes on. Thanks for the kind comments
