Thanks for your comments Sarah, I'm glad you like it. As with so many of my paintings, it turned out completely different from my orginal concept, because I couldn't achieve it! Then I sort of became obsessed with the repetitive nature of the flat shapes, per se - which then took over. What I wanted to paint was a much more fluid and realistic style like yours. I think you have captured much more movement than I did with your billowing sails and sky/sea colours. Great stuff, I studied a lot of images and paintings on the web and it compares very well. Hope you continue with the style, i will watch out for it.

Thanks Linda perhaps I should try to have more fun with it . I like your Canyonlands I think you've certainly captured the depth there. There's only one thing that occurs to me: the lower foreground (which I assume is some sort of safety wall?) could perhaps be a bit bolder/stronger to add to the impression of depth/distance beyond - like you do in landscapes by picking out some (e.g.) flowers in the foreground and making them large relative to the middle distance and background. Maybe the bottom of the pit might be a bit darker? Just some thoughts it's difficult without 'seeing it in the paint. ' Good luck.
