Thanks Yu Ping and Carole (I don't think I can select a particular message to reply to on this site). This is based on a photograph of a wet city street with lots of reflections from car headlights, streetlamps, etc. It was originally meant to be an exercise in glazing (later taken up in the Hurrying Home Paris street scene). Anyway, I couldn't get the effects I wanted and I started to stylise it, and then it ran away with itself! Also. romanticised it a bit I suppose a la Abba's Summer Night City - shows my age!

Hi Yu Ping, I am not qualified to give you a professional artistic opinion, but of course neither are the vast majority of people who enjoy and buy art. Personally, I don't think there is much logic in how art is valued (at least not in monetary terms) - I have seen some incredibly high-priced works in a number of exhibitions ranging from the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, to Christies and local art club and individual artist exhibitions. I have seen a number of high-priced items that I wouldn't hang on the wall if they were mine. On the other hand, I have seen many modestly-priced items that I would be proud to have done. In my view, what you are doing is very good and is a distinctive style. Re: an earlier message, if you want to do stronger tones, I suggest you choose the right subject, rather than changing what you have done. Good luck..

I do like this, no particular technical or critique reason why, just that I do. Hows that, most people, consumers of art are like me. We dont care why or how, we just like it. Love the colour scheme, and my eyes move around, and it stimulates my imagination, it would provide hours of enjoyment. One cannot ask for more than that. Its a winner.
