Hi Ruthy and Val, Good to hear from you both :) The outlines of leaves and flowers at the top of this painting are from a native New Zealand tree called the kaka Beak...flowers are bright red and shaped like a bird's beak (Kaka is a native bird-like a parrot). Acrylic on canvas. These are my very stylised Wood Pigeons in the moonlight. I used a restricted palette of blue green, white and black for this picture. New Zealand Wood Pigeons are beautiful birds. They can often be seen in pairs in native trees. They like to feast on the seeds of Laburnum tree in the garden. ~ Anni
