I don't think this is bland at all. It is fresh, muted and harmonious. Lovely composition and I really like your treatment of the mountains.

Love this work Ann, its good.---- David Bellamy style

Lovely work Ann.

Ann -- stop pulling yourself down -

Second go - Ann -- stop pulling yourself down -- you can paint, you have shown brilliant work on this site -- forget what you think, forget being bland forget the empty spaces -- ITS SCOTLAND-- paint what it is stop trying to fill the painting --- SNOW I hate that stuff, but if thats what you want - get on the internet and find some to paint ----- Now for the nitty gritty -the mountains in this painting are out of this world ( fab ) the left hand bank and trees -good -- the roofs and hedgerow on the righthand side for me are to strong ( perhaps middle tone would have been better ) -- you have got the darker tones in the middle of the painting ( check your other paintings ) -so save your darker tones for the front to give a litte depth ( having said that this work has got great depth ) Your later works seem to be all middle tone SO - sort out the darks -------I hope this will not offend -- I had it printed for about an hour before I dare send

Thanks Robert - the lack of stronger foreground seems to be a failing of mine. I still, though, hate the empty space bit. (There seem to be so many sketches with stumpy trees on the left and right sides with empty pathg, field, river up the middle leading nowhere - which I can't relate to at all!) Of course I am not offended - just happy that there are helpful critical people out there.
