No sense of struggle with your paper is apparent to me - but painting on poor quality paper is, I know, not a pleasant experience. You've done well with it, and I really like your lead-in. In theory, you've broken one of those rules they throw at us, in that the path seems to lead out of the picture: except it doesn't - it's obvious that it curves into the scene even though we don't see that. S0 - another rule that might often be right, but isn't always.

Robert thank you for your comment. You’ve highlighted the path as a potential issue which I hadn’t thought about, I think I got away with it because the bridge rail curves up toward the church. Incidentally you also hit on my constant struggle to get away from the ‘literal’ i.e. the photograph, and to introduce more artistic licence. Thanks again for the useful feedback.

I love the lead into the church area and general painting which is lovely. Good composition, works for me.
