A great industrial/ graphic scene. Well done Andrew. I love the contrast in colours between natural and industrial items.

I love the style of this and the composition. It's almost colour coded and very striking.

Really good Andrew 🙂

A superb painting which not only conveys the blood sweat and tears of British Industry in those by gone days. But also captures this scene in a remarkable style. Love it as I'm sure your family do Andrew.

Impressive Andrew. There's a great style about this, and I particularly like the handling of the figures bottom right.

Has a great quality to it and so interesting too.

Interesting subject, and really lovely style, Andrew.

Really well painted Andrew, I love industrial scenes but they are vanishing at a rapid rate!

The is is outstanding Andy , it’s a superb painting of a long lost era on our industrial history . I really like the style it has a old encyclopaedia picture look that used to be in the books back in the 1950 extra. That is meant as a compliment as it really had me thinking back .

I like your style Andrew. The whole painting holds together so well

Many thanks for all your kind comments. As I said in my description, this is based on a photograph from the time and so much of the composition is down to Peter Benton who captured the scale of the sheds and the curve of the railway lines. The steelworks are no longer there, but my wife remembers them, and the red smoke which was a bane of everyone's life. However I'm sure the people of EV would love to have full employment again regardless. I chose a limited palette and a deliberate lack of detail to avoid overloading the image with extraneous information. Thanks again.

Very clear, crisp, lines in this very graphic scene Andrew.

A super painting Andrew, so well-painted. I really like the limited palette and the contrast between light and dark. The 'ghostly' figures seem very apt too.

A powerful image in a powerful style. It couples the naive optimism when this style was used for adverts with a sense of foreboding.

Thank you Carole, Karen and CDG - great feedback.

I really like your style, lovely work Andrew!

Thank you Jayne, much appreciated😊

A painting of Ebbw Vale steel works circa 1969. Acrylic 24" x 18" on Reeves canvas board. Done for my wife's family as a reminder of how things were. I used a photograph available for reuse under Creative Commons : Ebbw Vale Steel Works in 1969 cc-by-sa/2.0 - © Peter Benton - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/341363. as a reference.
