Interesting topic well painted, Andrew. As a Jane Austen fan, I know that pump rooms, as in Bath, were social gathering points for the , as you say, great, good and Royal (ie the idle rich). I didn't know about Harrogate.

Beautiful painting, Andrew... I was born in Harrogate and left there when I was 3. I've never been back, but people tell me I should visit. Your lovely painting has inspired me to do so!

The Pump Room in Harrogate is where the great, good and Royal would ‘take the water’ when they visited the spa town. I’m fortunate to live here and had a great time painting this scene outside and chatting to interested passers by .
