Sonning lock - unfinished?

Sonning lock - unfinished?

It has - I would be tempted to do another version though, which you will be permitted to finish. The point is of course that the composition is so good, hence it works without extra detail.

Thanks Robert, yes too true, I must have another go.

Whilst I like it as it is... I'd just finish it... you capture the Thames really well in these - I used to canoe the area a lot (when we were at Oxford). In fact I've just this week bought a new canoe and was wondering if I could do some plein air work from it... but it'd be the Yorkshire Derwent or the Pocklington Canal rather than the Isis or the Thames these days. Really nice stuff here - well done.

What Gorgeous Works! I'm so impressed!

@ Ade, there must be suitable easels one can attach to the canoe while you drift, or anchor. I'm sure we'd all love to see the results, maybe in the summer? @ Skylar, so appreciate you looking. i just hope they don't all have a rubbery feel, as can happen with impasto. I just took a look at your work. Is "stone bridge" in oils? The water there and in "stepping stones" is so fluid, love it.

Such a great sense of design/composition in this, all the elements are working together to complement one another. I find it totally restful and refreshing...for me I say 'leave as is'!

Sonning lock is a well known beauty spot, and in this case I was going to finish it off with a narrow-boat exiting the lock, but was forbidden to to any more by my wife! I consider it unfinished but totally agree the spartan impression has a lot going for it....
