Rose-Scented Summer Breeze

Good one Andrea

It beautiful, Andrea. I love the variation in colour on the petals.

I can see the sunlight. It’s lovely, Andrea.

Beautifully painted Andrea. A wonderful sunny, summery display.

Thank you so much Heather :-)

Thank you Marline, it’s funny how you don’t initially appreciate just how many different colours are in a subject - until you start to paint it! So many peaches, corals and pinks - but it isn’t until you add all these tones that the rose comes to life. I was originally going for a less-finished look, but then realised the two main roses would need to be more realistic to get the effect I was after. Thanks for commenting :-)

Thank you so much Shirley, so glad you like it - thanks for letting me know :-)

Thank you so much Carole, it was quite a challenge, but I am glad I stuck with it and got there in the end! :-)

Love the light shining on those sumptuous roses Andrea. Beautifully painted.

Thank you Carole!

Occasionally a painting turns out to be even more challenging than you were expecting - this was one of them! I wanted to capture the beauty of these big old-fashioned roses, tumbling over a neighbour’s garden wall. They smell devine! I took lots of reference photos but my favourites were those looking up at the blooms and out into the big blue sky. This is the view I wanted to capture - roses bobbing in the bright morning sunshine, beautiful blue skies and the scent of heavenly perfume.
