Thank you Carole - so pleased you like it. There’s far more water than this detail suggests. It’s funny how you initially think the main challenge will be one thing (there are 7 birds) but it actually turns out to be the secondary thing (the water) which takes the longest.

Much as I love the overall impression of a whole painting, I really LOVE zooming in and viewing some of the details. You can see so much more texture and character in these cameos than viewing a ‘whole’ online painting which tends to blur out these passages. It’s always the texture of a painting that pulls me in when I’m viewing for real in an exhibition. This detail is 9cms x 13 cms and is Oil on super-smooth Gessobord. Thank you for looking :- )
