Like this a lot Amanda. Done with enjoyment. You are so right that stuff will not dry in January, I was in our local woodland on Monday, I didn't attempt to paint as it was several degrees under freezing, the lake was frozen. But I took some great pics.

Thank you, Sylvia. I certainly did enjoy doing it - leaving the office, sunshine, anticipation, a bit of exercise on the way, and then, for a sweet, short time, there is nothing but the woods and the painting. Until the latter is done and an echo of the former returns with me to enhance the afternoon. Glad to hear you got out and captured some images yourself. Those cold, bright days can be stunning.

So it wasn't actually very cold, but it was a bit squelchy underfoot. This venerable looking tree is on the same small site as my oil "November Trees". The main problem with outdoor watercolour sketches in January is that they don't dry as quickly as summer sketches, and I was obliged to cycle back to work with the open spiral-bound pad (10x7") precariously bungeed to the rear rack. I don't think anyone noticed.
