Why Amanda, I didn't realise you are a Leicester lass. I'm south Leicester myself. I know Bradgate well, and my kids loved it too (all grown up now). This is a fine rendition. Some great places to paint in Bradgate, along with the deer. You, Michael and I should get together!

Ah, you see, Tony, I'm a sort of ex-pat Leicestershire lass (note subtle emphasis on county over city). I grew up in Melton Mowbray, and my mother still lives there, which is why I get to introduce my children to the delights of Bradgate. It is indeed a fine place, and I'd love to be able to set up my easel in the park, but our visits (from Hampshire) are too fleeting, and really ought to involve being kind of socialble with family. Might manage a breif get together, though, if I can figure out when we're going up that way next.

Ah, I misunderstood. Well yes, I'm county too, between Mkt Harborough and the city. A minor distinction, but accurate. You are right of course, family comes first!

Very nice painting!

Thank you, Shirley.

No winding, windy moor in Yorkshire, this. Volcanic rocks at Lady Jane Grey's former estate, near Leicester. My two children love scrambling over those rocks; here, a contemplative moment from both And isn't that pointy rock fabulous? Oil on canvas, 33 x 55cm
