Like those writhing trees - they give the painting movement; and the strong foreground, darks that are deep without being dingy.

This jumped out at me. Love the strength of those trees - moving as Robert says. Best viewed from a distance, which is the intention given its size. Great.

Having espoused the supreme importance of skies in landscape... here is a little landscape featuring no sky. It does have mist, though, after a fashion. Oil on canvas, 7 x 5", 26 November 2012.
