Thank you, Carole... but it isn't pastel. I'm not sure what is in the very poorly named* Drawing pencils from Derwent, but they're not chalky or dusty enough for pastel. Not greasy enough for oil pastel, either. I think that they are somehow related to coloured pencils, but better. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *Well, can you think of a pencil that you wouldn't draw with? That *nobody* would draw with? (I wouldn't draw with a 6H, say, if there was a softer alternative)

Sorry Amanda, typical me, not reading correctly! I know the pencils you mean, I bought a tin years ago, haven't used them much at all. They certainly show up well on black, I will have to a go with them again.
