Fun, I hope? I've always enjoyed knife painting in acrylic, although don't do enough of it (mean with paint). Cryla from Daler Rowney, and Winsor & Newton's Artists Acrylic, work well. It is different from knife painting in oil as you say here and on the forum - but while different, is still capable of producing good results like this.

Yes, it was fun. I was expecting to be able to make cleaner contrasts more easily - which is why I chose this image - and it was, indeed, so. Next experiment - to attempt a subject similar to the ones that I favour in oils.

PS I was using a mixture of paint brands, but Cryla was the dominant one.

One of the very first professional paints in acrylic - and still one of the best. I think Daler Rowney have become really bad at promoting their products, and have one of the world's worst websites: but happily, they still make superbly good paint.

And if you live within reach of Bracknell, they do (or used to do) guided tours around their factory. By appointment, and for groups. I went on one 9 or 10 years ago (where does the time go?*) and it was really fascinating. *Our children are both under the age of 9. I think that pretty much answers my otherwise rhetorical question.

full of texture, and the sky seems to be full of moody weather approaching, i like this painting :-)

Only just found your gallery Amanda. I have just had a happy stroll through some of your paintings. I especially like this one , its very " honest" love the somber light. Will come back and look at some more very soon.

Lovely boats, beach and surroundings Amanda, no surprise comments on this

Acrylic on canvas, 41 x 33 cm, knife painting (signature made with a brush :-) ) Location: Gillan Creek, Helford River, Cornwall I like the idea of boats better than the reality of (being in) them. The photograph that this painting was based on was taken on the same day that I painted "From the Herra" en plein air in oils. The painting was made yesterday; it was the first time for a while that I have tried to make a whole knife painting in acrylics.
