Cottington's Poppies 4 by Amanda Bates
I hae a large collection of photographs of the poppies in this wheat field; the original painting (posted in my Palette Knife Oils gallery) led to a commission (!). A blue sky was requested for that one. (I liked the grey sky on the original, but the customer is, as they say, always right.) *This* was painted as a gift, to be given in short order - hence acrylic rather than oil - for someone whose tastes I wasn't sure of. So I played it safe and went for sunny. Rather like Fire Hydrant, the background is done with a brush, the foreground with a knife. 5x7" acrylic on canvas.
