A great subject beautifully rendered.

A really interesting subject and angle ,excellent.

Industrial scenes like these are smashing works to study and paint especially as good as this

An interesting composition Amanda, great colours too!

Smashing work, love the pipes.

What you want to do is wander round the buildings at the St Mary's Hospital site, at Newport, Isle of Wight - in fact: I ought to do that myself....

Part of the estate, now used as offices, is the old Isle of Wight Workhouse - or House of Industry, as I believe it was called. When the NHS Trust constructed a helicopter landing site, so important for emergencies given the difficulties we can sometimes encounter in getting off the island, it was discovered, or re-discovered, that the land on which it was built was the old graveyard - and they found the records of many of those buried there, and the reasons for their deaths: "exhaustion" was one: sent a shiver down the spine.

It needs to be drawn and painted - there's so much there, and you, I think, are the gal to do it!

I will make it to The Isle of Wight one day, hopefully not too far distant, and I will do my best to locate and investigate the hospital site at Newport, Robert. But first, Basingstoke needs showing to itself, and there is a collection of intriguing soon-to-be-demolished old industrial buildings in Newbury that I have my eye on, too.

Thank you, Dennis, Avril, Alan, Derek, Christine, Fiona (yes, I loved the pipes, too; thats why they're there) and Robert.

A lovely, strong painting Amanda.
