'Farther Along the Track, Penrose' Graphite on Claybord 16 x 12"
This drawing was from an autumnal walk on the Penrose Estate near Helston. I often walk through this farm on the Estate & on this morning, the farmer had parked up and was dealing with the cattle in the adjacent field. I was drawn to the textures of the rocky path, the thorny, Cornish hedges, and the wood and stone of the buildings. I also loved drawing the farming vehicles with their thick tyres and heavy, robust, industrial forms, which was such a contrast to the delicate foliage in the foreground.
