I like it very much, as I did your last one. Subtle colours in the sky, suggestions in the landscape and very atmospheric. You said you were trying to get away from detail, I'd love to see an earlier ,more detailed painting so I could compare. I would love to capture a mood in my painting without much detail, at the moment I try to loosen up using a painting knife(depending on the subject) but I'm definitely going to try harder.

Hi Marjorie, thanks for taking time to comment. I have other portfolio's here on POL, although they may be hard to find [I had trouble!!]. Looking at some of them I've found quite a few examples of my 'too detailed' efforts, here's one for you to have a look at http://www.painters-online.co.uk/Gallery/Alan-Knight-To-The-Lighthouse/_ga81034_pg1 All the best, Alan

You are an old romantic Alan, such a great title. I love the subtle colours in your sky, the textures say it all no detail needed.

I agree with Carole and Marjorie about the sky, it's perfect and I love the simplicity of it. I also love the romantic title, I can almost hear the hills sighing!Lol.

I've just managed to find you again in the Gallery - back and forth - and you've pointed in a fIrly loose way for quite a while I think. I can see a verging on the abstract now tho' - I like them all very much.

Yes, Marjorie, I think you're right, maybe abstraction is the way to go.......but not as easy as it looks. Thank you all for your kind comments.
