This really caught my eye Alan. A lovely picture and the colour makes it. Now I shall have to find out what drypoint etching is - another visit to You Tube!

Another good example of this side to your work. I saw an exhibition of some folios of prints made by a number of well known artists at Gallery Oldham this week, Lowry and Hockney included, it was most interesting how they approached the work.

I will have to do the same as Adele and look this technique up Alan. It's brilliant, it has real class.

I like it very much Alan, the simplicity, regression and depth especially.

Love this effect Alan but it seems alien to me, how do you do it?

Never quite know what to say next about your work Alan....its all been said...and here is another super pic.

Beautiful, Alan. I know a bit about dry point, as I studied etching at Brighton. It is hard work, but the quality of the lines is worth it. You have done it so well.

Very beautiful Alan. I don't know this technique but it seem to me you have very fun with your new press.

Yet another excellent piece - would love to spend some time with you to help with understanding the process - you've certainly mastered it.

A masterwork Alan really beautiful

Thanks to you all for your interest shown in this wonderful technique, I have always loved printmaking and at college it came a very close second to painting. Michael, and the few others that would like more info, obviously the website is littered with demo's, mostly rubbish in my view (not talking about their work, more their approach), but I don't do art club demo's any more, I loved it but can't do the travelling nowadays. However, I will have another shot at posting on WIP if anyone is interested, I'll flag it up on the forum, so let me know which one, monoprints or drypoint etching, both are extremely simple to learn, trust me... at your peril! I will show every stage in detail along with text, even Fiona should be able to follow it! Alan

Love this, Alan, both the composition and the monochrome colour used which gives it an appealing timeless feel (if that makes sense?). A WIP on the forum would be great, I'd especially like to see how you do a monoprint, but maybe you could do one of each?

another winner Alan I too like the graphic work you are producing

Thanks Alan, dry point for me please:)

Without wanting to appear being greedy I'd love you to do both on the WIP forum but I guess a nudging preference towards drypoint, I look forward to it.

Drypoint etching done earlier today with my new press, I do love the soft quality of line that this method produces along with the indentation from the plate, size A4 Fabrians Rossapino paper, Raw Umber printing ink, image size 8 x 6in.
