Yet another great study Alan

This is beautiful, Alan, love the touches of warm colour, also the detail in the foreground as well as the track through the gate leading us into the scene which has a great depth to it.

A masterwork Alan simply beautiful

Jenny took my words on the path Alan. It is another classic. Do you carry a pochade around with you?

Thanks Michael, Jenny, Dennis and Derek for your kind words, Yes Derek, normally my MABEF box easel, but I have just bought a Pochard which will help me enormously, being so light. I always carry a selection of paints, turps, brushes, boards etc, so have everything on hand if I am driving and happen upon a good subject.

Beautiful set up of a country scene Alan. I like your marks on the trees so effective.

You're on something of a roll with these landscape studies. I particularly like this one, as much for its deep shadows as for its depiction of a pleasingly undeveloped scene (although of course these vistas are all man-made: it's just that they're not covered in horrible little bungaloid developments; yet).

Lovely painting Alan in your unique style gorgeous mate.

Great painting as always, Alan. Jenny said it all.

As this one is a little one Alan, I may be able to squeeze it in somewhere!!lol I love your use of the greys in this Alan they really show up the whites and coloured areas of the painting. Another super sketch...loose but so well composed.

My favourite landscape of yours. A feast of colours and shapes.

Another stunner Alan!

Textures, colours, the grey/blue in particular, composition, brilliant. I bet it's really satisfying doing these. I get excited about my quick studies. I have a 'subject' to try a larger quick study with. I'll give myself two hours as the canvas paper is double the size! I need to see if my 80x120cm will fit on easel. Double portrait .. and perhaps a little dog.

Thanks again to you all, and Gudrun, I look forward to seeing this latest edition, that's a great size canvas to work on, but two hours?, good luck on that one, should be very loose and expressive.

Doesn't look very simple to me, I wouldn't know where to start. But you do Alan and this beautiful winter scene is magnificent!

can't resist interesting mark making.

Alan. I was clear as mud. The quick two hour study will be on canvas paper 30x40cm. My double portrait is on the large canvas

An oil sketch that I painted last week, a dense outcrop of woodland known as the Beacon, simple subject but made a nice composition, and with no walking involved, straight off the road. Oil on board 16 x 20in.
