Wonderful painting, Alan - the sky is excellent...

I really like the way you have painted the sky too. Its dominance is such a feature of the painting, balanced by the description of the land. I like the two red patches particularly. You have given us lots to keep looking at Alan! Great painting.

Really excellent - I really appreciate the loose but expressive brush marks and the soft and hard edges. Yes Alan I really like it!!

Fabulous, as always Alan. Amazing sky.

The sky is superb Alan, I'm always impressed by your work but how you 'suggest' so much detail in your treatment of the landscape is beyond me.

Wow, thanks guys for some great feedback, I’m glad you like this style of painting, I realise it’s not to everyone’s taste, as in not photographic enough!

Ooooo, now that’s grand Alan. Love the sky and the reflected palette in the landscape.

Interesting almost to the point of abstraction Alan.

Stunning work, Alan. Love the effect of the dramatic bright sky against the dark shapes of the land and marshland.

Really admire how you have limited detail but there is sufficient information to relate what is happening. Very cleverly painted. I imagine this to look very dynamic in the flesh Alan.

Another 'belter' Alan.

Thanks again to everyone for your comments, greatly appreciated!

Amazing sky Alan! Great semi abstract landscape.

Yes that sky works so well, the land is almost incidental, but contrasts with the light of the lower sky.

WOW! Now this I really love, stunning painting so expressive. You are gifted!

Thanks again to those latecomers, appreciated!

Another winner!!! Fabulous painting Alan Sorry only just seen this

Lovely powerful work.

Just caught up with this beauty. Love the energy and the bold brush strokes. Better than photographic!

I posted the first stage last week, and this is it completed! I’ve been testing out the Jackson’s Artist range of oil paints for The Artist magazine, which will appear later in the year. I’ve layered some areas of paint fairly thickly in this painting, particularly in the sky area, plus some useful dry brush work will also be evident. Oil on linen board, 40 x 50cm.
