Nashville After Hours

after your kind comment on my watercolour ' the catch ' i looked into your gallery & like what i see, i have picked this one especially because my son lives just outside nashville, brings back lovely memories, hopeing to get back to america next year. thanks again & and i admire your paintings very much, i have tried acrylics, to no success so i'll stick to watercolours. lilias

This is superb!! Excellent atmoshere and a wonderful "feel" to the painting. I am very keen to know how you managed to capture the writing on the window so precisely - do you use masking fluid to protect the writing? I have tried to reproduce signs in some of my efforts (not in this class) but have never been satisfied with the result.

Ian H... I drew it out first in a very light transparent light paint the way I wanted it, then I painted it in. I then covered what I didn't want with the darker paint of the rest of the window..

This painting of yours evoke such a wonderfully real atmosphere of the locals enjoying a drink. Love it. I struggle with figures and portraits so this is something that I would love to gain more experience in.
