It's just lovely Adele. Great talent.

Oh my this is beautiful. Welcome back missed you so much x

This is wonderful Adele, so clever. I don't think I'd have the patience to do this, it must have taken you ages. Lovely to see you back with us, you've been missed. It would be interesting to know how big this piece is please.

Thank you Henry, Gudrun, Donna and Margaret. Yes it did take ages but I was learning all the time. Obviously still need to learn a lot but that is what art in any form is about - it is ongoing. Margaret, the piece measures 19inches x 13.5 inches (48.25cm x 34.25cm) - a good-sized piece, and as mentioned, perhaps a little over-ambitious for a first attempt. Good to be back although given the nature of my new medium, I won't be as prolific as before.

Great to see you back Adele. Beautiful piece of work.

Lovely design and colours in this Adele, it's a very effective medium.

Welcome back Adele. This is beautiful and looks painstakingly hard to do. Good luck with your new art.

Great depth and textures, Adele. It's exciting trying something new and they all feed into each other, don't they. X

Lovely work!

Great piece Adele, I admire your skill

Thank you very much everyone. Now for the next one!

I haven't actually heard of fibre art Adele but must say how much I like this. I imagine it's a difficult technique and your lady look wonderful. Rather classy and a bit of a temptress :)

Definitely a temptress Louise. The technique is not too difficult but patience is required. Originally I wasn't going to attempt her features because the face is quite small but I decided to give it a go and it is quite easy to unpick. Couldn't be too accurate but pleased I managed some features however crude. Perhaps the accuracy will come with experience.

Thank you Carole - based on myself of course - ha ha!!

Excellent work Adele. Nice to see you back again.

Thanks Pete, good to be back.

Gorgeous and intriguing piece of art. Quite challenging to paint with wool...claps claps! Oh, by the way, thanks for the "unusual" comment. Love it! soon I will post more ;)

Thank you Igor.

Fibre Art - The first of a new media for me. Before I took up painting I was a needlecrafter. Having lost my way with my painting and needing a new challenge, I discovered Fibre Art which, simply put, is painting using wool fibres - not to be confused with rug making. I've maybe been a little ambitious with my first project but I have learnt lots on the journey. Looking at the picture, I could have improved it a lot but as a first attempt I am satisfied. Onwards and, hopefully, upwards!

About the Artist
Adele Elgood

When I was a young girl my parents had a large mirror which had an etching of a "crinoline lady" on. I would spend hours copying this. In the 1960's when I was at Secondary school, I was told to give up painting and drawing as I was useless and would never be any good. Following these words of…
