Is dad wearing a white cap? It seems a little ... odd, or unfinished maybe, to me, because you've modelled the features of his face so well. Love the pipe - used to be a permanent fixture in my own face, until one day I took a deep draw on it, and promptly fell over... By the way, I wouldn't necessarily change or refine the cap at all - you've captured someone interesting, you've got a question hanging over the painting: and I suspect you've let it at the best strategic point.
