Three great portraits here Paul, very well done indeed. This one is wonderful, especially the shirt and that incredible smile!

There's movement in that face - all too often, children being hard to paint, pictures of them tend to make them look as if they're dolls, faces of ceramic or plastic. Not in this one - remarkable painting, in which every element works despite the fact that you made life hard for yourself by having such a strong background - no freedom to get a bit fuzzy around the edges of a brush-stroke.

Thanks for the comments, yea Robert i see what you mean about the background, this was only my 2nd or 3rd attempt at a portrait, suppose its all about learning from each one, thanks for the feedback, cheers.
