This is excellent John.

I like it as is , the red is strong and draws you to the scene but then you start to look at the background etc .

Totally right decision John and as Paul says it draws you in and then you start to look around.

I did this ink drawing a couple of months ago. The original reference photograph shows the cottage roof is bright red and I've been pondering whether or not to make the roof in my drawing red too. I've finally decided the only way to answer the question is to just do it .... so I did!!! I used Vermillion red ink. I'm still not sure it was the right thing to do because now the roof takes over and detracts from the rest of the drawing.
