Painting title: The Girls From Oltenia Author: me Size: 27.5 x 35.4 inches Medium: oil on canvas I would like you to tell me what art movement comes to your mind when you first look at this painting. Any other opinions and pieces of constructive criticism are welcome.
Hi Lucian nice to see you posting your work , I have to admit due to my lack of knowledge I don’t have any art movement in mind when I look at your painting. What I do see is a really well executed painting with superb detailing on the head scarves.
It's an arresting and powerful painting - I'm not sure that I would ascribe any particular movement to it, but perhaps I tend not to think in those terms.  What does interest me is the medium you have used.

Thank you so much. :) Other people didn't seem to like it. You're one of the most active staff members of this site, so I highly doubt that you lack knowledge about art.
Lucien....hi again.   Interesting painting.   The gallery really is the place to put it I'm sur3 with all of your knowledge you can do it.   Incidentally no one on here is "staff".we are all POL members exactly like you.  Though Robert does get rid of scams and spams.. Gallery !
I don’t use oils Lucían, however I can see you are very talented . Like Paul I am drawn to those beautifully painted head scarves.as for  an art movement I couldn’t hazard a guess,  sorry!

Surely, someone must be in charge. A site of this size and complexity doesn't just run itself.
Dawn Farley is the online editor! I’m a forum moderator along with Robert and Paul, but we are not paid staff! We just monitor scams or inappropriate postings etc, and delete them, nothing more complicated than that. Everyone who participates on the forum, and gallery are both amateur and professional artists, but mainly amateur.

Yes there is an office you can refer to a lovely lady called Dawn who you can message/ ring if you need any official info. Otherwise this is a place for likeminded friendly people to exchange views and ideas .  If you get used to it it's easy...e g my comments re the gallery , have you looked at it ? . Forums are for chatting, learning, and exchange of views.  .  The Gallery is for finished work with a much larger audience .  You can make comments and take interest in the paintings posted on there. It is also possible to look at personal galleries going back over time.  Try it.   You might even get to like it.  Link top right hand corner.   Box canvas is a deep sided canvas that I enjoy using...Robert doesn't ,each to their own.  More on Google .
I’m a self taught artist Lucian when I say I have no knowledge of art what I mean is I have no formal training so discussing styles etc is awkward so is placing painting into categories. Like most of the members on the site I’m a amateur painter who started painting following a accident.  I’ve always sketched mainly due to being dyslexic and in my day you were mostly ignored at school . I was often told to sit and draw doesn’t bother me very much theses days but occasionally it embarrassing.  I do think if you put your painting in the gallery you would get possibly more people commenting , sadly a lot of people don’t use the forum .
I thought of Frida Kahlo when I saw the  painting. Other than that I couldn’t put it in a stylistic box. It’s a lovely double portrait.

Thank you, sir. It is oil on canvas. Do you think it resembles Frida Kahlo's style, like Andrew mentioned?
