Hello - just joined so thought I would start participating by posting this half-sheet watercolour called "Eric in Newfoundland". I will admit that I pushed the colours somewhat as it was a dull day and the rocks were mostly shades of grey. 15" x 22" on arches cp paper.

Nice job David! We need to push the boundaries, otherwise we might as well take a photograph!
So true Alan, I think it is better to paint what you want it to be rather than what it is. Thanks for commenting.
Pushing the colours, always ticks my boxes!

This post has been removed as it violates our forum rules and guidelines.

You should be putting this on the gallery not in someone else thread . If you want to sell paintings then you need to have a full paid up membership.
Sorry I don't know how to use this forum... I am not selling paintings these days.. This painting was sold in 1973..
Could someone tell me how to delete the original post...
I will remove it for you Lajo, don’t worry about the comments it violates the rules etc, it’s because I removed it , it always appears when a moderator remove something even on  request. If you need any advice on the site use the general discussion threads , open a new one and as your questions . You gave the rocks some strong qualities (in contrast to the plainer sea) which gave the composition great visual interest.  I am sure that 'Eric' would appreciate that.  Well done.
I don't know how I missed it, but I didn't see this at the time - and if you did put it on the Gallery, I didn't see it there either - which is a pity as I should certainly have commented on this very successful watercolour - there's nothing wrong with pushing the colours provided they're pushed in the right direction, and you don't go mad with it: I don't mind greys and darks, in fact I rather like them; but what I hate in watercolour is wish-wash - colour so pale it hardly deserves to be called colour.  This is fine.
