Hi all. Been off for a while as I totally stalled on the painting I was working on, but just come back from our jollies with a teeny bit of enthusiasm so thought I’d have a crack at something different. Started this one a few years ago and retrieved it from the attic yesterday. It’s the second of a what will be hopefully a series of paintings based on pics I took in an American car scrapyard in Barnsley decades ago. Haven’t been too adventurous yet, but I’ve blocked some background in and, since this was taken, worked some more on the red/pink Ford. Hoping to get back into the habit of painting every day as that seems to work the best for me.
Some superb details in there already Anth , looking forward to seeing it progress and some more of you much missed work .
Anth = fear not.  I have paintings I started 6 months ago, come to that over a year ago, which I've left, and come back to: acrylic is the best medium for this approach, though you can come back to oils too; you might fear you lose the impetus, but actually - no; you can regain it, with a fresh surge of enthusiasm.  I've also returned to MUCH older paintings - I have one tucked away, again an acrylic, which I know needs something: I just haven't been sure what.  All I've got to do is stay alive!  I'll get there eventually, and you will too.  Persistence gets there in the end.
It’s been hard to get back into it this time Robert…hopefully I can keep some momentum going with this one and also resume work on another couple of WIPs!
Got some progress on this one over the weekend: Concentrating on the background for the moment, it’s taking a while but it’s a fairly large canvas - around 36x24” - so can live with that. Good to be painting rust again!
Coming along beautifully Anthony.  Always a pleasure to watch your paintings evolve.
This is coming along really well.  The finished article is going to be wonderful.
Thanks both!
Got some time in this afternoon and finished everything to the left of the metal post: There’s a lot of detail even in the background of this one, so completing that area feels like a good start.
It seems to be progressing well. You made the texture of the rust really nice.
Yeah it’s coming along nicely - and I love painting rust in it’s various forms!
Coming along nicely , mmm, no mate it’s coming fantastically.
