I've got a few WIP that I'm doing at the moment. A couple of oil paintings and I started this acrylic the other day. I got the inspiration from a drama I'm watching called The French Cook, not my sort of thing but got hooked after the first episode, it was very funny. The main character, it keeps panning back to her friend in France and her French kitchen full of copper pots and pans. No fish kettle though. I can't say, I've seen a painting of a fish kettle and so, this is something I wanted to try. It is proving difficult but I think I'm getting some understanding of it after 3 days. It's not like doing a pot or pan where your light reflections are often very straight forward. I did a quick fish but this fish will change. I just threw it in for size. I will do a few. I've not put my lightest lights or darkest darks in yet. I've not done the rim, handle or inside of the kettle. It's a large canvas so I will probably add an olive oil bottle and maybe a lemon.

You have made a superb start Denise , I’m looking forward to seeing the progress and final painting.
It's looking great Denise. Quite surreal at this stage. Looking forward to seeing how it develops.
I have been sketching my shapes in with a bit of thinned down acrylic. I have done some work on the inside of the kettle and the handles and this will continue. Work has started on the fish. I'm going to put a small saucer of lemons and maybe a fish slice in. I'll continue with what I'm doing as I don't want the scene becoming overcrowded. If I feel it is, I'll leave something out. Just if anyone is interested, for the bronze tones, I used a basic mix of blue, red and yellow. I put a Burnt Umber and a green out later just to add more variety to the tones. Some Titanium White also. I'm going to go with a cool blue for the background colour and a rustic table.
I think this is starting to take shape now and I'm fairly happy with the way it's coming along. Didn't get the bottle finished as I lost the light but I've been working on a bit of texture on the fish.
Looking good, Denise. Lovely coppery overtones on the fish kettle.
Still quite a bit to do on the kettle but I feel the colours and structure of it, are working.

It's looking good Denise. My cat has been eyeing up your fish!
Well, they do look good enough to eat.

I have started going in with some lighter colours on the kettle. Building up the fish more and now I've blocked in the background, I can see where I want the other objects to sit. I would usually sketch the full composition in but because I've had a few variations in my head, I've been able to sketch them in with a bit of paint as I've gone on. The canvas is about 2.5 ft by 2 ft. My plan now is to finish the bottle and fish tomorrow. Then add the other objects. Lastly I will finish the kettle and background. I plan to put Alizarin Crimson glaze on the fish kettle, when it's done.
I love the hints of bright orange left around the fish and bottle
This will be the final composition now. I still have a lot to do. The two fish together, need scales and fins finishing. Garlic has just started coming together. The fish kettle is not finished. The shadows and background all need finishing and refining but I'm fairly happy with the overall look. I reckon another two or three days should do it.
